Jambi
Jambi is a province located on the eastern coast of central Sumatra, with its capital in Jambi City. The region is known for its rich cultural heritage, long history, and abundant natural resources. The dominant ethnic group is Malay Jambi, accompanied by Batak, Minangkabau, Javanese, and Bugis communities, creating a blended cultural identity. Jambi’s economy is driven by plantations, mining, forestry, and agriculture, with key commodities such as palm oil, rubber, timber, coal, and petroleum. Geographically, the province features diverse landscapes—lowlands, coastal regions, rivers, and mountainous areas in the west, including Mount Kerinci, the highest peak in Sumatra. Major attractions include Kerinci Seblat National Park, home to the Sumatran tiger, and the Muaro Jambi Temple Complex, the largest Hindu-Buddhist archaeological site in Sumatra. Historically, Jambi played a key role in maritime trade routes and was part of major ancient kingdoms such as Melayu and Sriwijaya. Today, Jambi continues to grow as a province rich in natural beauty, cultural preservation, and economic potential.
